Biography
Lütfi Ömer Akad (2 September 1916 - 19 November 2011), the first auteur director of Turkish cinema, screenwriter, academician, Honorary Professor. Known as the "The Masterless Master" and "Big Auteur" of Turkish cinema, Akad has been one of the important names that enabled Turkish cinema, which was under the domination of theater actors until the 1950s, to become independent from theatre. Being one of the first representatives of the "Generation of Filmmakers", Akad, unlike the filmmakers before him, researched and developed the unique language and possibilities of cinema, influenced many directors who came after him with his works and set an example for them.
