Biography
Born in Chicago, Lloyd F. Lonergan was one of five children of Thomas Lonergan, a newspaper publisher. His mother was a writer for various newspapers, and eventually all of his siblings became newspaper writers too. Lonergan attended the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD. He later went to work for the William Randolph Hearst organization as a newspaper and magazine writer and worked on a number of newspapers, including the New York Evening Journal and the New York Evening World.
