Abay Sadvokasovich Karpykov (Kazakh: Абай Садвокасович Карпыков; born February 6, 1955, Taldy-Kurgan) is a Soviet, Kazakh and Russian film director, screenwriter and producer. He graduated from the Moscow Historical and Archival Institute and the Directing Faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (workshop of Sergei Solovyov). Specialty — director and producer. He produced the first Kazakh "soap operas" — "Crossroads" and "Locust". Of the full-length films, one of the first films was the film "The One who is more Tender" (1996), later he made the film "Farah" (1998).
