Biography
Juliana Vicente de Freitas, also known as Juliana Vicente, is a Brazilian director and filmmaker. She is the founder of Preta Portê Filmes, a company founded in 2009 in São Paulo with the aim of developing audiovisual projects that combine art and communication for a diverse market. The filmmaker aims to make content of social and artistic relevance, creating new Afro-indigenous and LGBTQIA+ narratives. In 2015, she was invited as a director to participate in the Berlinale Talents and received the Camera D’Or award with the co-production A Terra e a Sombra, at the Cannes Festival. In the same year she was nominated for the Claudia Award in the Culture category, for her contribution to Brazilian cinema.
