Biography
Antonio Eceiza, (San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, Spain, September 4, 1935 – San Sebastián, November 15, 2011) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter, who directed eleven films between 1960 and 1995. Law graduate and animator from San Sebastián film clubism, he went to Madrid in 1958 to train at the Institute of Cinematographic Research and Experiences. He formed a tandem with his friend Elías Querejeta with whom he shot two documentaries and worked in advertising films. Films like “De cuerpo presente”, “Último encuentro” and “Las secretas intenciones” positioned him as one of the strongest props of what came to be called the “new Spanish cinema” of the sixties. Between 1973 and 1978 he stayed abroad.
