Biography

Chinese film director and screenwriter Yan Huang (1911-1994) In 1926, 15-year teen Yan take part in the Hunan Peasant Movement and served as the propaganda officer of the Provincial Farmers Association and the chairman of the Provincial Rural Children's League. Participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising in 1927 and went to Shanghai to do underground work for the Communist Youth League. In 1929 he entered the Music Department of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. He joined Xinhua University of the Arts the following year, and also participated in the Nanguo News Agency and the left-wing drama movement, and adapted and directed the play "Maliu Tega". In 1931, he returned to Hunan and served as a middle school teacher.
